Abstract: Construction Industry is always concerning to find new and better materials for improvement of properties of concrete to manufacture new or improved products. Concrete possesses very low tensile strength, low resistance to cracking and also low ductility. Fiber reinforced concrete is the most widely used concept in construction industry. Basalt continuous filaments are produced from parent basalt rocks by melting and extrusion process. Basalt fibers are non toxic, alkali resistant and also have good thermal properties. This study is a trial of giving some highlights and works done on the use of basalt fibers to make improved concrete.

Abstract: This report focuses on how federal agencies define success in computer crime investigations and how they can facilitate the development and refinement of a comprehensive law enforcement strategy for addressing cyber threats. Through interviews with experienced computer crime investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Secret Service, and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, this project aims to identify how federal agencies conduct investigations related to cyber security and how they define operational success. Our findings show a clear emphasis on threat mitigation, instead of quantitative valuation of prosecutions, as the goal of the investigation. Strategies employ the use of intelligence gathering and sharing to fortify potential targets and identify prolific offenders. These observations are consistent with the current trends in traditional investigation which include the use of an intelligence-led policing model to combat the top national security risks to the United States.

Abstract: Storage tank are used to store water. BIS has brought out the revised version of IS 3370 (part 1& 2) after a long time from its 1965 version in year 2009. This revised code is mainly drafted for water tank. In this revision important is that limit state method is incorporated in design. This paper gives in brief, the comparison of design of circular water tank using working stress method and limit state method. In the end comparative result of IS 3370 (1965) and IS 3370 (2009) is given in tabular form.

Abstract: The atmosphere surrounding the earth has an important role to play in maintaining an even temperature on the earth’s surface. Gases in the atmosphere such as Carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), Nitrogen Oxides (N2O, NO), Chlorofluoro- carbons, Carbon Monoxide (CO), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), and Ethene traps the heat and radiates back to earth, which results in appreciable rise in Earth’s mean temperature. South Gujarat region is a major rice growing area of Gujarat. Also it has a largest GIDC having many no. of industrial units involved. So in this paper, estimation of green house gases from South Gujarat Region is carried out for the year 2004. Green house gases emissions from south Gujarat region from various such as paddy fields, animal enteric fermentation and manure management, fuel consumption and biomass burning determined using Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Default values and guidelines. In South Gujarat region paddy cultivation area is 0.238 Mha. Hence Total annual methane emission from this region was calculated as 0.118 Tg/year. Methane emission from live stock population and biomass burning was 103139.789 Mg/year and 414.02 Mg/year respectively. CO2 emission from fuel consumption and biomass burning was 22582900 Mg/year and 400.46 Mg/year respectively. N2O emission from biomass burning and paddy field was 0.27 Mg/year and 4523.4 Mg/year respectively. Total Tg CO2 eq. in south Gujarat region was 29.019. Based on the results obtained, the contribution of South Gujarat region in Global warming is 0.238 % on a world wide basis and as far as India is concerned; its proportion is 2.278 %.

Abstract: Lean and Six Sigma are powerful philosophies backed by several tools for improving quality, productivity, profitability and market competitiveness for any corporation in a holistic manner. Lean focuses on eliminating waste and improving flow using various proven System. Six Sigma is focused on reducing variation using a problem solving approach and statistical tools. This paper proposes a merger of the tools in a Lean Six Sigma (LSS) case study for course instruction, using the very basic Six Sigma tool of DMAIC process to merge the implementation of both philosophies. An integrated approach of LSS to process improvement using Lean and Six Sigma principles is required since both Lean and Six Sigma are more of a cultural change meant to be the way a company does business rather than a onetime tool to be used for quick improvement. Combined, the two approaches drive continual improvement, building a philosophy that is the foundation of all effective management systems and any business that wants to grow and progress for the future.
